100th Day T-Shirts
For the 100th day of school, your first grader is invited to create a "100th Day Shirt that he/she will wear to school on this day. This is an optional activity. The shirt is to be made at home and should have 100 objects glued, stuck, drawn, or ironed onto the shirt. A note was sent home last week regarding this project. We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Friday, February 7th. On this day we will spend the day doing activities revolving around the number 100. Have fun creating!
Empty Cereal Boxes STILL Needed
We will be using empty cereal boxes to decorate and store our Valentines. Right now we have enough for half of the class. Please send in any empty ones you may have! Thank you to Mrs. Shanks for volunteering to help cover the boxes.
Report Cards
The second and third card marking report cards are not printed for families, but accessed digitally. Login information was sent home with your student last Thursday when report cards were made available online. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Valentines
Our class will be celebrating Valentine's Day on February 12th. We will not be having a classroom party. Instead, we will be doing some fun centers, reading our valentines, and having a small simple treat/ snack. Remember: February 12th is also a half-day of school.

If your child would like to pass out valentines to their classmates, I ask that your child bring enough for everyone (23) and ONLY SIGN THEIR NAME ON THE CARD SO STUDENTS KNOW WHOM IT IS FROM. THERE IS NO NEED TO ADDRESS THE VALENTINES. Therefore, I will not be sending home a class list. This helps tremendously on time when the students are passing their valentines out. Students may start to bring in their valentines no earlier than Monday, February 10th to pass out.
Career Days/When I Grow Up Day
To wrap up our Economics unit for Social Studies, First Grade is hosting a few Career Days this month with parent volunteers AND a "When I Grow Up" dress up day! The homework packet this week will give more information on the "When I Grow Up" dress up day on February 20th :)
Thank You to Mr. Wijffels (Maia), Mr. Cede Baca (Brady), and Mr. Salenik (Gracelyn) for volunteering for our Career Days!
February Scholastic Book Orders
Book Orders went home with your First Grader today. These are due by TUESDAY, February 11th. You may send orders into school (only check or money order, No Cash please) OR you may order online (See tab under "Parents").
Extra Clothes
Please talk to your child about their extra clothes bag in their locker. It may be missing some key items (i.e. pants, shirts, underwear, socks, etc.) or they may need some new sizes. The playground has been very wet and muddy lately, and the students are quickly learning the benefits of keeping extra clothes at school. Thanks
