Important Tidbits . . .
Our class will be celebrating Valentine's Day on February 12th. We will not be having a classroom party. Instead, we will be doing some fun centers, reading our valentines, and having a small simple treat/ snack. Remember: February 12th is also a half-day of school.

If your child would like to pass out valentines to their classmates, I ask that your child bring enough for everyone (23) and ONLY SIGN THEIR NAME ON THE CARD SO STUDENTS KNOW WHOM IT IS FROM. THERE IS NO NEED TO ADDRESS THE VALENTINES. Therefore, I will not be sending home a class list. This helps tremendously on time when the students are passing their valentines out. Students may start to bring in their valentines no earlier than Monday, February 10th to pass out.
Field Trip
The First Grades will taking a trip to Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter on March 18th from about 9:00am-1:00pm. Permission slips and notes will come home with your student on Monday. Please return permission slips/money by March 3. Additionally, please reply on the permission slip if you would like to chaperone the trip and send in your money as well. We will be taking 10 chaperones that HAVE COMPLETED the SLCS background check.
If you have not done the background check and would like to volunteer in your child’s classroom, you may do so here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdz9LJOc7GaQGF2HIAd-snomTt_vCTtfff7yhVvxQgaT_gPtA/viewform

100th Day
The students did an amazing job creating 100 day shirts. I was very impressed with the creativity. Check out the pictures on our website, under the tab "Class Pictures 2019-2020." The students wrote about what they would be like when they are 100 years old. After, they created self-portraits. They are hanging in the hallway above our lockers. If you get a chance, check them out. The students did a FANTASTIC job on it!
