Hello my Superheroes!
How is everyone doing? It definitely has been an interesting time. The days are starting to blend together. Isn't funny how when you are in school/work you know what day it is and the date, but when you are not there, you have no clue? I find myself checking the calendar frequently to see if it is April yet!
Things have been busy these last two weeks at the Boynton household. We adopted 2 little doggies about a week ago. Jenny is a Jack Russell Terrier. She is 10 years old. Gizmo is a chihuahua. He is 5 years old. They were a package deal. We are adjusting to having dogs in the house again and training them. They definitely have helped to pass the time:)

I have made some changes to my weekly blog. Along the side, or at the very bottom if you are looking at this on your phone, I changed the information to my 100 Book Challenge Board and Monthly birthday list. I will also be the using this blog to give updates about students, questions, ideas, information, etc.
I know that there is a lot of uncertainty right now, but as I told the students on 3-13-20, we can only focus on what we know today. Take it one day at a time and do the best that you can. Take comfort in knowing that everyone is in the same boat, and it will all get figured out in the end:)
100 Book Challenge!
I thought is would be fun to keep track of how students are doing on their reading log while they are out of school. Unfortunately, I don't remember off hand where everyone was when we left school, so I thought students could send me their current number of books read either through an e-mail or Remind. Then I can fill in the board on the right (or at the bottom of the blog if you are viewing this on your phone). Remember, only record the title of a book once. You can use books, Age-appropriate magazine articles, Raz-Kids, Epic (class code: epu7784), etc. I know some of your resources may be limited, but remember you can use books, Age-Appropriate articles, Raz-Kids, National Geographic online, etc. as long as your child is reading them.

Extended Learning Opportunities
As a district, we are trying to move towards a more systematic approach to ensure the kid's experiences and opportunities are similar regardless of the classroom teacher or building. Please use this as your foundational resource for providing an academic experience for your children. Each Friday the district will release a new document for the following week. They are divided into grade level bands.
